Pop the Top
In Salem, the popular restaurant known as j.james is being transformed into Prudence Uncorked. Re-opening, or "uncorking," in late November with chef Jesse Tomaino at the helm, Salem's newest fine dining establishment will offer fresh local ingredients, a fabulous wine selection and impeccable service. The repertoire will also include a new bar and wine cellar, spacious banquet facilities and an environment as delightful as the menu. Prudence Uncorked is an easy drive from Honeywood Winery, Ankeny Vineyards, Redhawk Winery, and Cubanisimo Vineyards.
Fresh from the Field

A rich culinary experience awaits at King Estate Restaurant, where chef Michael Landsberg has built a menu focused on exceptional wine and food pairings. You'll find only the freshest ingredients here, as the restaurant features produce and herbs grown in their 45 acres of organic gardens and orchards and excellent cured meats from the on-site charcuterie. Nearby, The Farmhouse at Sweet Cheeks Winery makes a great home base for more wine touring, including a visit to Silvan Ridge Winery. If you want to be chauffeured on the back roads of Oregon Wine Country, the Wine Lover's Tour leaving from Eugene is a wonderful option.
Evening of Custom Cuisine
The new Jory Restaurant and Bar at the Allison Inn & Spa in Newberg features a special dining experience with chef Nathan Lockwood. Up to eight culinary aficionados can book the Private Chef's Table, choose their menu for the evening and talk with Lockwood while he prepares the meal. For an added element, this exceptional experience can be paired with wine from the restaurant's extensive cellar, featuring the best wines of the valley to compliment the evening's dishes. Jory is conveniently located near many wineries, including Winter's Hill Vineyard, Stoller Vineyards and Eyrie Vineyards.
All Warm and Cozy
Warm up next to the fireplace on one of Puddin' River Wine Bar's cozy divans and order your favorite flight of Willamette Valley wine. After you unwind, settle in for dinner followed by a nibble or two of handcrafted signature Pinot noir truffles. Proprietress Teresa Sasse is a native Oregonian running this tiny storefront in historic Canby while also making stunning confections, orchestrating cooking classes and designing weekend dinner menus with flourish and fun. It's a great place to cap off a day of wine tasting at Alexeli Vineyard, St. Josef's Winery and Hanson Vineyards.
The Freshest Finds
Albany-based Sybaris chef and co-owner Matt Bennett delivers a new, innovative menu each month in a spacious, upscale atmosphere. Nearly everything is made fresh from scratch at this eclectic Northwest bistro. Bennett focuses on using only the freshest local ingredients in season, so don't be hoping for a tomato on the menu in January. Stroll down First Street and see Bennett's new restaurants Boccherini Coffee and Tea House and BamBoo Diner. Nearby wineries are Spring Hill Cellars and Marks Ridge.
On Cloud 9
Stop for a bite and a pint or a glass of local wine at Cloud 9 Restaurant and its accompanying bar, The Downward Dog, in Corvallis. Head chef Ko Attebery's menu is based on a variety of influences, including American, French, Italian, Southern and more. The house specialty is an ever evolving mac and cheese. While you nosh on entrees from the innovative menu, you can often enjoy live local music. End your night at the bar next door with one of Chris Churilla's unique, signature drinks such as Maestro's Apprentice. Nearby, Belle Vallee Winery and Tasting Room, Enoteca Wine Bar and Tyee Wine Cellars beckon you for a day of wine tasting.
