Showcase experience:  Feed your inner connoisseur in Eugene

Eugene is a cultural potpourri, bringing together people of all backgrounds for a myriad of festivals and events.  Everything from craft fairs and farmers markets exist in harmony with classical music festivals, inspirational museums, galleries, world-class ballets and more.

Eugene’s renowned Saturday Market brings tastes from around the world to the epicenter of the city. Marionberry pies and local hazelnuts are just a few of the delectable treats available to sample or take home. Fresh flowers, juicy fruits, crispy vegetables, crafts and live music await those wishing to experience local life. Families routinely make their way to the market for their weekly produce and a chance to connect with the community.  Visitors can get to know the area with a new walking tour where they’ll make their way through downtown, visiting more than 30 locations of interest - including churches, art galleries, museums, cafes, shops and live music venues.

Take a step back in time and see Lane County as it once was at the Lane County Historical Society and Museum.  With a mix of long-term exhibits, children's educational programs and a vast collection of historic photographs, the museum has plenty of memories to share.  The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at the University of Oregon hosts art from around the world.  The museum was recently remodeled and restored to hold collections from Asia, Russia and Europe, along with American regional pieces by artists of the Pacific Northwest.

Feel the music and savor the flavors at annual ethnic events like Fiesta Latina and the Japanese Obon & Taiko Drumming Festival. The Willamette Valley Folk Festival, held at Eugene’s open-air summer venue, the Cuthbert Amphitheater, gives a glimpse into the sights and sounds that shaped the history of our nation. The Hult Center for Performing Arts, located downtown near Eugene’s best restaurants and art galleries, hosts touring musicians, comedians and renowned artists as well as eight resident performing companies.

No matter how you choose to spend your time - dancing to live music at the annual Eugene Celebration, a festival that combines parades, music, art, film and more, or enjoying the talents of world-class musicians at the internationally acclaimed Oregon Bach Festival - there is always something to keep you entertained in Eugene.  Keep in mind, it’s not all about Bach at the Bach Festival. Family events, educational programs and a wide range of music make up this event, held along the Willamette River.

For a special dinner made from local ingredients try the Oregon Electric Station, a national historic landmark featuring dining in antique railroad cars, or taste the scrumptious crepes and fondues at The Vintage, a literal vintage house located at 8th and Lincoln.

The Hilton Eugene and Valley River Inn are ideal lodging options for visitors wishing to be near the bustling downtown, while those who prefer to relax in one of the many peaceful surrounding neighborhoods would enjoy a stay in a historic home like The Campbell House or C’est La Vie.
